Avrupa \u015fehirleri y\u0131k\u0131m\u0131n izlerini ta\u015f\u0131rken, h\u0131zl\u0131, ekonomik ve sa\u011flam in\u015fa y\u00f6ntemlerine ihtiya\u00e7 vard\u0131. Beton, bu d\u00f6nemin en eri\u015filebilir ve dayan\u0131kl\u0131 malzemesi olarak \u00f6ne \u00e7\u0131kt\u0131.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brutalizmin \u00f6nc\u00fclerinden Le Corbusier, tasar\u0131mlar\u0131nda ham betonu cesurca sergileyerek bu ak\u0131m\u0131n temel esteti\u011fini \u015fekillendirdi. Onun Marsilya\u2019daki <em>Unit\u00e9 d\u2019Habitation<\/em> projesi, yaln\u0131zca bir konut kompleksi de\u011fil, Brutalist mimarinin manifestosu niteli\u011findeydi. \u0130ngiltere\u2019de ise Alison ve Peter Smithson gibi mimarlar, Brutalizmi \u201csosyal mimarl\u0131k\u201d anlay\u0131\u015f\u0131yla birle\u015ftirerek toplu konut projelerinde hayata ge\u00e7irdiler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1960\u2019lar ve 1970\u2019lerde, \u00f6zellikle kamu binalar\u0131, \u00fcniversiteler ve k\u00fclt\u00fcrel merkezler Brutalizm ak\u0131m\u0131 \u00e7izgisinde tasarland\u0131.
